The Wallaseyans’ Club has a thriving Snooker Section that plays on four magnificent and well maintained tables in the purposely converted basement of the building.
From January to June each year, three major competitions take place – Singles Open, Singles Handicap and Pairs Handicap. A Highest Break competition is also held and the prizes for all competitions are presented at the Annual Dinner in September.
Fun nights, such as Flying Snooker and Charity Events, are held throughout the year, as are competitions with other organisations.
The lights for the tables are metered at a cost of 10p for 5 minutes. This charge compares favourably with local snooker clubs and covers the high maintenance costs.
So, if you play snooker, or wish to take part, please come along and join in.
SNOOKER UPDATE!
The 2011 competitions are now under way with Alex Meadows already holding the Highest Break with a score of 32 in the opening round of the Handicap Pairs. Thurston’s have renewed the cushions on all four tables and stretched and re-marked the cloths. Meter no. 1 has now been repaired. New Champions Boards are being prepared and all boards will be updated shortly. Cheers, Iain.
