The Tuxedo jazz Band was formed in 1993 by six experienced musicians, each having a desire to produce a band whose overall sound and technique was as authentic as possible to the original New Orleans bands.

On Trumpet and vocals the late Hughie Gerrard, was a complete devotee of New Orleans' style trumpet with more than a hint of 'Bunk Johnson'. Gerry Owen, (Clarinet, Alto Sax and vocals) is one of the few reed musicians who has his own unique sound. Arthur (Kid) Williams from the Welsh Riviera, on Trombone with a great tailgate sound, adds more vocals to the front line. Mal Horne, on Banjo and Guitar, is without doubt one of the best powerhouse rhythm players, adding yet more vocals. Isabel Toner, no stranger to New Orleans music adds style and rhythm on bass, and on drums, completing the powerhouse rhythm section, Brian Woods, another devotee of New Orleans which shows in his style of drumming

Here they play to please the more purist fans of New Orleans Jazz.

The musicians' pedigree covers a wide spectrum of experience, particularly their very good name in Holland and Germany, and the pleasure of having played with some of the originators of the music - Alton Purnell, Kid Sheik, Louis Nelson, and our own Ken Colyer. Still very much with us, Sammy Rimington (who hopefully will be playing with the Tuxedo during this year).
